how hard is taking the oil pump off ??

Default how hard is taking the oil pump off ??

how hard is it to take the oil pump off in the car with the pan on cant you take that pickup bolt out and slip it down or dose the pan haft to come off I want to make a cam Chang and basically I got a junk timing chain and I want to put a K tech chain on

you can change it just like you are talking about, it a pain in the ***, just take ur TIME! back the bolt out, after its out 3/4 of the way, tie something around it, i used adout 6 inches of 16 guage speaker wire,so it wont fall in the oil pan,, worked great good luck


the pan does not have to come off,, back aw the oil pan bolts off about 3/4 and the pan will drop about 1 inch, that enuff room to take the bolt out.

rap the bolt with some thread from a sewing kit. if you drop it you are screwed!!!!!!!!!

you don't even have to wrap anything around it, but just make sure to stuff an old rag or something in the opening to the oil pan......................that works for anything dropping in there

ok yea I have a magnet biggest thing is I would haft to fish the bolt out but thanks for the input . the oil pick up I guess will just drop out of the pump as I pull it off ?? that's the biggest thing I was worried about

Considering doing a pump swap with the pan on. I'm wondering if you guys that are dropping the pan that 1" are not resealing the gasket (takes anaerobic sealer in some spots).
