Default 65000 mile a4...stall or not???

well my current tranny i have in my car has about 65000 miles
and im fixing to in stall a tranny cooler to keep the temp down, and would also like to put in a stall around 3400. but i was wondering if i should just ave my money and get a good trans and stall all together,or go ahead with the stall and cooler on this one and go till it breaks? also would it easily be destroyed with a stall on this one?

If there aren't any issues with your current tranny, go for it. You already said you would add a cooler...this is key to keeping the tranny happy. Many have gotten well over 100K with the stock tranny and aftermarket converters. You'll be fine.

I blew my tranny bone stock twice. A 100 shot will help kill it alot quicker. These 4L60E's are a PITA!!!

Its only about $250 for a stall install. Go for it and don't go cheap. You get what you pay for. But, its the 2nd best bang for the buck next to NOS.

It's not going to add any years to it ! It seems hit or miss around here when people spray their stock tranny. If you don't spray through the shifts, they seem to last a little longer. Start saving now and you'll be ready when it happens.

Don't worry about putting in a stall converter. Worry about spray.

An SRLS series 9.5" billet converter set at 3600 would compliment your car well. Drives virtualy stock and will reduce your et by 7-8 tenths. This converter is jug happy but that will probably shorten the life of your trans. For good dependability and overall performance this is the one for you. Comes with a three year warranty as well. Look at our website for pics under SRLS series. We also have a special on trhese converters for LS board users.

Do the tranny and converter at the same time. As I mentioned above, don't go cheap on either a trans or converter. I'd go Finishline or RPM on the trans and no others!!! Converters I'd go Yank or PI, Circle D seems to be getting a good name too.

Just my 2 pennies though.

Put the 3500 stall and cam in at 105k, I'm currently near 122k after 2+ years of abuse with the stock trans (knock on wood).

i suggest saving up the money and getting your tranny built right the first time along with a converter and shift kit and tranny cooler. most of the sponsors offer everything in there trannies.

I agree in principle, but...
I would do the shift kit, stall and cooler. If you blow it all up, then you do it all over again. In the mean time, you can have lots of fun with a tranny, stall and shift kit. Which is what I am currently doing. When (if) it blows, it all gets replaced.
