I know the rules say you cant have tinted windows for nhra, but i was wondering if they have gave anyone any trouble over having tinted windows at any events? I should be running 10.50s this year, i plan on running some umtr events, Pinks all out, and at the lsx shootout, does anyone think i would have trouble passing tech if my windows were tinted to 20%? The reason i ask is i won a drawing for free window tint, that i intended to use on my cobalt ss but i had just had it tinted, so i would love to use it on the camaro but dont want to screw myself for racing.
thanks

Street car, 10.50's... I don't think it would ever be an issue.

Look at bradys car . I have never had an issue and mine are 20% all around . I would not tint the front glass at all.

You get into high dollar No-E bracket racing and those guys get real touchy-feely about tinted windows on "trailer cars". They start wondering why you don't want anyone to see in the cab... and alot of the time, folks are disqualified for hiding buttons/boxes. But on "street trim" cars, even at the bigger races, I've never seen any issues.

I had the same concerns, but seems the more I looked into it, the more I see people doing it. Like mentioned, many 7-8 second cars seem to have tint.

yep.
any big footbrake event where it be a mig money purse or regional/national competiton dont allow tint. you may get by with it, but soon as someone complains, youll be gone.
local street car stuff, or even at a local nhra event, youll be fine.

As mentioned, NHRA rulebook states "factory tint only" on windows. It's a touchy-feely rule, some tracks are harsher than others. Most NHRA national and divisional events it won't fly, and as mentioned on the big dollar bracket races they'll likely say no as well.
