MMS Heads/Cam Top end package deal
I found a guy selling this package. Anyone know about MMS heads? They look nice. I got to see them today. I'm seriously contemplating buying these from this guy. I just need to do some more homework.
Look at what he has:
The heads are MMS stage 2 complete and ready to run. Stage 2 ported and decked .020. 55cc chambers. They have been machined for and include comp 987 springs, seats, shims. They have stainless 2.0"/1.6" valves. Comp cromemoly retainers, locks and viton seals. New un-installed originally Paid $1549 will sell for $1100. With ported matched intake $1200.
Never installed ported intake, matched to above heads. originally Paid $250, sell for $125. Will not sell seperately unless heads sell first.
NEW Comp oem replacement lifters part # 850-16 $175.
NEW Comp pushrods 7.2" part# 7940-16 $125.
NEW BBK 52mm throttle body $275.
New CC305 cam $200.
Will take $1900 for all.
I have the money sitting in my bank right now to buy this set up. Give me some opinions. Or should I keep saving and go with Advanced Induction???

The only reason I ask is because this is obviously a steal. I saw the heads and they are beautiful. I just don't have any info on MMS stuff. Any information would be appreciated. If this setup will make 450hp on a stock bottom end I'll take it.

Rick, I'd listen to the advice given The AI head/cam setup is basically the same exact price plus their port design is a full 10 years newer. Something to think about.
In all honesty, you'd be pretty foolish to buy that setup for that price. Now if it were considerably cheaper....that would be something to entertain. But, not for that price.

So the throttle body, ported matched intake, lifters etc... plus these heads is just a small break? I still want some information about MMS stuff. If they are garbage then so be it. I wouldn't figure they'd be as good as LE or AI but you also get what you pay for in life. I just want to know some estimated flow numbers for a stage two port from MMS. That's all.

Lifters are likely unnecessary and you would be at least as well off with $100 LS7 lifters instead of those.
If you are going to do a 52mm TB use a rebored stocker, ALL the aftermarket ones have little hassles to deal with, if buying aftermarket go to the 58mm.
I would not bother with the Comp 305 cam, really old design, MUCH better stuff out there these days.
I never heard of MMS before so I can't comment on that part.

Alright I think I have heard enough about these heads. I will just keep saving for the better AI heads. It was my original plan anyways. I just thought I found a good deal. Oh well. That's life. I guess if the setup was so badass he wouldn't be parting with it. Even though he did mention that he sold his 94 Z28. Thanks a lot for the information. I'll be getting in touch with AI here shortly. I can't wait to dust the hell out of corvettes haha.

My favorite kills are sprayed LS cars.
Think I upset an 70s big block Vette owner, his first trip to the track he lined up against me and lost by 2 full seconds. He thought big block meant fast, not understanding what turds everything from the mid 70s was big block or not.

Yeah in about a month I plan to have some AI heads, ported matched intake and a badass cam. Then it's wider tires. I've already got plenty in the supsension department. And I plan to run the stock rear until it blows in a million pieces haha. Then it will be time for a 9".
