Me Vs. Procharged 04 Gt
So the other night, Me and a couple fellow stang'ers go to a car show. A buddy of mine had brought his 04 votech v2 air to water intercooled gt out and said he wanted to race me, so I agreed to just see what would happen. When we left he followed me onto the interstate and headed for a rural "at night" intrastate that had some good long straight stretches on it. I give him a call to ask, roll and all that sort of nature. We decide to do a 50 which puts me in second, He put his in third. So Honk, Honk, Honk, I get him a half car right off the bat and stays about equal to about 95 then he pulls about a car on me. We keep going I shift fourth and about 120, I start pulling back, Im like OMG are you serious and so about 140 I had him by a car. So I got off the next exit and pulled into a gas station, to get some fuel for me and my car. He walks up and says" Did you really just pull me like that?" and I'm smiling from ear to ear and I say "I guess I did." So we start talking and he said he had it in third, so I'm like ok lets go again but put yours in second. We get in our cars and get back on the intrastate and so this time we slow to about a 45. Honk, Honk, Honk, I get a half car right off the bat again but this time he pulls a half car on me at 70, shifts, we stay the same and about 95 he pulls a car, and thats where he stayed to about 160 or thats what his digital speedometer said and i was a car and a half behind. All and all, I was extremely happy about the whole out come

So....was it an ATi or Vortech?
What boost, etc.? I can see this if he only had 8 pounds and mild bolt ons. Penidn tune he would have been at ~360rwhp with the vortech. weight would have been aroughly the same....trannys are the same....so that leaves shift points and rear gears.

good kill but he must be a horrible driver or have a horrible tune. your in the 300-315rwhp area and he should easily be in the 380+rwhp area with a good tune. but great kill!

wither way, he 'should' have pulled out the win....but, this is the street. Nice kill OP.

Yeah he should have lost but I wouldn't say hosed. I have personally raced a 04 GT procharged on 12lbs. He said it made 400whp. From a 30 roll to 120 we were side by side both times we ran. My mods are in sig. and throw the BS flag if you want but it did happen that way. I honestly should beat the OP's mustang no offense by the stated difference. So I say good run on the op's part.

well guys, some answers and thoughts!
First, His mods,
Vortech V-2 SQ S-Trim High-Output System which includes intercooler
Anderson Power Pipe
C&L Intake Plenum and Throttle Body
Ford Racing EV1 Style High Flow Fuel Injectors-42 lb
Steeda Drag Springs
Spec Stage 2 Clutch
Steeda Clutch Adjuster Kit
Steeda Tri-Ax Short Throw Shifter
MAC Prochamber
Flowmaster Catback
Now for my .02, Correct me if im wrong but doesnt a centrifugal supercharger only build max boost at redline and max boost equals max power right? So with that being said he pulled me where he should of and pulled that length hard but had to shift and lost boost. Which allows a consistant 300rwhp car to keep up with a car that goes from 260rwhp to 400rwhp redline power depending on rpm and boost. Am I right?

Congratulations on the kill. If he is running 10 psi or less, this is a completely realistic expectation. My friend has a supercharged (Vortech V1) 04 GT with longtubes, x-pipe, catback, tune, etc. and we are completely dead even, both from a roll and in the 1/8th mile. My car is a 1998 Trans Am with longtubes, ORY, catback, and lid. His car dynoed at 425 rwhp, but the shop he took it to is notorious for being less than credible. Again, great runs.
