Default Can the new camaro save GM?

I wished GM hadn't waited so long to get this car ready to sell..It's like someone is trying to sabatoge the company & delayed it on purpose.
I saw the 1st ones in 2006 both on the Power Tour & the F body gathering..& I don't understand for the life of me why in the hell it wasn't on sell then.
I say there is a distinct possibility the new Camaro will be one model year only.
Why did they release this car in the middle of a recession?

I dont think the Camaro is going to change anything for GM, its too small of a market.

I think GM taking so long to get the Camaro out actually makes them look worse. It may be the greatest car they ever developed, but it took so long to develop which does not make you think that they are able to perform great engineering feats.

When it's all said and done the Camaro could be the last great thing GM ever did, or could be the last reminder of why they failed.

The new camaro will help but so many factors are contributing to GM's pains any new car, no matter how great, will have little effect. What's really disturbing is the fact that while the big 3 struggle and maybe go down, some Chinese manufacturers are chomping at the bit to get into our market with very cheap models that we can't compete with on a price basis. For them (the Chinese), the timing could not be better, especially if wages continue to slide and inflation rears its ugly head as predicted. The big 3 better be able to meet this challenge soon.

For the camaro to save GM all by its self, take the "per unit" profit and divide it into just what GM owes us (Taxpayers).

Say they get 1k per camaro = 170 mil cars
2k = 85 mil cars
4k = 42.5 mil cars
8k = 21.25 mil cars an so on.....

I know this sounds simple, but I am a Finance Analyst for a large airlines and sometimes we have to turn numbers into ABC's so the big guys can understand

P.S. This is by no way etched in stone, just a crayone observation.....

I don't like it either.... but issue aside..... the new Camaro simply won't sell enough units to really matter one way or another.

Even if it moves the projected 100K units a year.... it won't be enough.

IN 2007, GM and Toyota sold almost the some number of cars..... Toyota made BILLIONS.... GM LOST BILLIONS.

GM's REAL problem is their legacy cost. The UAW has GOT to go away.

GM needs to go bankrupt and the economy needs to improve. Then whoever buys all the pieces can put it back together again, and actually make a profit.

nope. gm has had this comming for far to long and maybe they will learn from their mistakes. If they hadnt drug *** doing so many things the camaro may have prevented them from the bailout somewhat but not entirely either way.

The Camaro alone will not save GM. GM needs a turn around in the economy and needs people to start spending more money. GM also needs banks to lend more money. It doesn't matter how much GM spends on payroll or how many unions and top executives they are paying, our economy has to turn around to save GM.

Yup, It may be a big seller but GM will not be banking that much off the car.

Just a note about Toyota, they did NOT earn billions, and actually posted their first loss in 70 years. And yes, the CEO was fired.

I think he wants to say that every automaker is in deep **** because of the market crash. GM is worst because of the way to pay union workers compare to others.
