Wideband really needed with HPtuners?

Wideband really needed with HPtuners? I plan on ordering HP tuners soon enough. Is a wideband really necessary for basic street tuning? As soon as I get the software I plan on renting a dyno and tuning the car... but after that.... what would you recommend? Is the software worth having without a wideband?

If you want to get the most out of your tuning, the wideband will definitely make your job easier. It's a good investment.

I bought my wideband a few years after getting
HPTuners and you can do a reasonable job if you
apply unusual methods (like, tuning the VE table
by forcing a 1.00 EQ everywhere, so you can use
the narrowbands at least up to the point of ping).
There are things you won't be able to know, like
the real delivered WOT enriched fueling, so have
to get the basics right and count on consistency
/ lack of big-end binds (which will be more true,
the less modded you are).
It's a good tool to get and it will be worthwhile,
but you can get busy with other aspects while
you're waiting for the money train.
