Cell phone activated car starter
Just wondering if such a thing exists. Guys at work have the remote starters but can't start the car without actually walking out to the parking lot, defeating the purpose. If you could activate it by calling a number, then range isn't an issue. I'd buy it!

Some remote starters have a pretty good range to them. I think I have seen ones with over a 3000 foot range. Being inside a building will cause interference though.
I havn't ever heard of one that runs off a cell phone signal though.

Yes it does exist.
It is a small device size of a car alarm remote that is paired with Audiovox remote entry/start/alarm systems and to a satellite.
Like you said the owner would just call the number enter the pin and:
Open door locks,Trunk
Start the car
Activate/Deactivate the Alarm.
You can be across the world but the car has to be USA for this service to work.
Its one of reasons of why i got the Audiovox Car APS997A installed in my car.
Device name is: ASCL100 Carlink
The catch is that this device only works with this alarm only.
The alarm is about $125 and satellite link is less than $100 in most places online.
This is a paid service but when you get the device you get 3 years free ,but i believe its about 100 to renew for another 3 years since the last time i checked.
