Default HP difference with a stall on dyno compared to track times....

I was curious to see what some of you with stalled cars dynoed compared to calculating your HP from your track times.....

I was curious to see the average HP "loss" on the dyno with the stall.....

My mods are in sig and im getting tuned next week! Then i need to make it to the track!

ya ive been curious also..... especially since im gonna hit the dyno next week.... im afraid to see how the 3600 stall is gonna effect my numbers...

I dont care what the dyno says as long as it performs good on the street/track....

but my first reaction to seeing my dyno numbers will probably be dissapointing....

From ALOT of searching it seems to be about 20-30hp loss but the poll will make it alot easier to compare.

stalled a4s are not dyno queens, my car b4 the heads and cam had 339 rwhp and ran a 12.2@111.

What are you trying to accomplish?

That calculator like most is WAY off. It says I must be making over 550rwhp to run what I do at 3700 lbs. I make ~420rwhp.

i didn't realize thats how far off the calculators were!

I was just curious to see the average loss in HP is with a big stall on a Dyno...

you cant give it a %...

Different stalls are looser than others the STR is different, the stall speeds and size are different.

Theres no good assumption to make. dyno it and find out but the bigger your stall and the looser the more hp you will loose on the dyno

very true there are to many things that come into play that can play a huge diffences in losses or gains on the dyno....

08 Trailblazer SS, pt3800 converter, 12.34 at 108.2, 350rwhp on the dyno the very next day, it says I should be making 431 to the tires via mph or 459 to the tires via et.
Those calculators are always off on stalled autos.

It can be surprising. Patrick G built a 346 that made 500rwhp in his manual trans car. This engine was the basis for his famous 500rwhp thread. He claimed that he sold the engine to someone with a high stall 4L60e car and made only around 420 to the wheels.

That calculator estimated I had 418rwhp..hah

My car dynoed at 330rwhp BEFORE the stall... best all motor time was a 11.93 with the stall...

Funny enough, that calculator was pretty accurate for me.

Numbers and times in sig... I plugged those in with 3450 lbs and got 404 hp using speed, 400 hp using time.

mine says @ 126 mph, 703 engine, 562 rwhp
when i dyno'ed it it was 488 rwhp thru a 13" conv switch/pitch turbo 400
ATI trans calc says 590 engine hp, so fig 20 % loss was closer

i had a 70 b/b chevelle, dynoed 520 rwhp, ran a 9.67 in the 1/4
a dyno is good for making a change from one pull to another, or bragging rights untill you take them out with 100 hp less and spank um

i dont buy into all the big dyno #'s, the track doesnt lie
