Default Ultra Pro Mags

Are any of you guys using or have feedback on the ne "ultra" pro mag rockers from comp.

I was reading their schpeil in hot rod I think and they sound pretty good.

Benefits of an aluminum rocker with the strength of steel.

Are they even out yet? Comps site says "coming soon".

Summit has em listed for SBF and BBC with a 4/5 ship date.
Didn't see any SBC, but they sure are adventising the heck out of them in magazines.

Wondering bout these too. I am thinking of ditching the pro-mags for something more quiet. I have been told the Scorpions or maybe these new Comps would do the trick.

Summit has a well documented history of pushing back ship dates. Remember the MSD opti? Got pushed back a whole year a couple weeks at a time. Edelbrock intake was the same way.

They also put ship dates a few weeks out on special order parts rather than telling you they are special order.

I still happily use Summit, just saying you have to understand how they work.

I ordered a pipe bend a couple months ago, ship date was a few days out, took a month to get.

I have heard the aluminum Scorpions are significantly more quiet than the promags. However the promags are the strongest. In my setup, the aluminum ones should work fine.

Did on a Superflow dyno corrected to STD. Got the sheet to prove it. That dyno is local and I only use it for measuring and has a rep for reading high as I have recently learned. The other funny thing is that dyno reads lower torque than the one i tune on.

The dyno that is used to tune is a DynoJet and is a hundred miles away. New SAE numbers are in my sig. I trust this dyno and the tuner far more than the local Superflow.

Clearly that Superflow dyno must be "happy" high because 383RWHP SAE on the DynoJet is far more realistic for my setup. The SAE numbers on the DynoJet were 393RWHP 371RWTQ BTW.

Another case of two dynos being worlds apart.

I have promags. I really don't care how loud my valve train is, and for that matter, it's not very loud anyways.

wrd...i wasn't arguing with you. the numbers you have now seem more realistic for your setup. when i was contemplating a 355 build, i was looking at your setup as a reference to be honest.

good to know ss.slp...i've heard some bad things aobut scorpions as well so i'll probably just stick with the pro mags

I understood what you said. No arguement took place. FWIW, I am man enough to admit & revise my sig when it was proven not right as opposed to some on the board who STG they have the factory freak that makes 20RWHP over what seems real.

Owners of the Pro Mags, did you have to modify your factory valve covers at all? Or just bolt on and run'em..I had the Crane Gold 1.6's and didn't have to..

Yes the Pro-Mags have a wide body so you will need to modify the factory valve covers to get them to clear.

What do you modify? could you snap a pic of it? Or at least explain what to modify on the VC?

You either flatten or cut out the supports.
