I've rolled with some of the kids coming out of the childrens class when they're like 15/16, it's like grappling with a hurricane. They're all skinny and fast and have infinite amounts of energy.

BJJ gyms are definitely getting younger.

Well he was trying to replace guard which is pretty good for a kid. Most newbs just freak out whenever anything gets near their neck and spaz rather than stay calm and work strategically like he did. He just wasn't able to replace guard, she was too slippery.

I think that is what impressed me most. She was so composed through the match, she never seemed to be deviating from her strategy. That has to be a difficult thing to teach, especially for kids - patience.

Yeah I mean all of the kids in our kids classes basically just run around like they're on fire and tackle each other. They don't start actually grappling until they're like 10 or 11.
