Question horse power on tiny budget

I have a 2000 Z28. It has been abused alot by previous owners and is in desperate need of some sort of rebuild. I'm wondering if its possible to build a 383 stroker and build the 4L60 all with quality parts (forged) for under or around $2000? and is this a reliable set up?? Any suggestions would be awesome.

negative, when I got a stock rebuild on my motor it was $2600 parts and labor plus $1k for R&R, For my trans I payed $1475 shipped for the trans, $725 plus tax for the stall, $60 for the trans cooler and $120 plus shipping for the flexplate, $400 labor to install it all

Fast, cheap, reliable.......pick 2

You can barely get a built 4L60e from a sponsor for the 2k.

so the stock rebuild wasn't forged or anything just stock parts and displacement? Where did you by the rebuild kit from?

lookin around on google I found a performance rebuild kit for the trans for $550 and TSP has a 383 rotating ***. for $1800 bot unless you have access to a machine shop and can rebuild the trans by yourself you are looking at around $1k in labor if you pull the motor and trans yourself. So thats around $3300 and add on another $1500 in labor if you dont pull it yourself

nope not forged and 346ci. I didnt buy a rebuild kit, the oil pump went out on the highway and spun a bearing. I had it towed to the shop to get the motor pulled and brought the motor to the machine shop. They tore it down and replace everything that was messed up
