WTF chips out of the cam lobes
As part of my new build, I am putting in a custom cam. So today I pulled the Hotcam out of my car that has been in there about 10k miles. It has been running fine. It was dynoed about 5 months ago and pulled 343 at the wheels and I took it to the track about a month ago. So I pull it out and three of the lobes were chipped. What causes this to happen? The cam is the hotcam specs but was done by an aftermarket company. I am hoping it was just poor quality. Anyone else seen this before?

Did you use HOT cam springs??
My first suspicion would be valve float and the LT4 springs everyone wants to use with the HOT cam are NOT good enough.
The roller lifter is very hard and when it comes smashing back down after during float it is hell on parts.
Then again it could be that you used some crappy regrind.
