Default voltmeter dips too much when A/C is on?

Okay, odd problem: I got the T/A back from the body shop and was driving it home, A/C cranked fan on high, and the voltmeter was reading 10.5-12V, typically it sits around 14. I turn off the A/C and it jumps back up to ~13.5...what gives? I drove the car for 20 minutes so I tend to think the alternator is fine. Is this a battery symptom? Thanks!
