Default Why do tire companies hate 16 inch wheels

I want 255/50/16 instead of 245 to help my increases of possibly having a little traction. Why does no one produce this size? I really can't find any. I guess I will have to settle for 245/50/16 goodyear eagle f1 gs-d3

How much traction do you need?
BFGoodrich makes a G-force Sport, or their original Drag Radial.

I have the 255 BFG's on the rears and have no complaints. Traction is pretty good, but it depends on what mods ya have.

I don't want drag radials because I DD. Mods are not much, Lid, Borla CB or Electric cutout, descreened MAF. The tires I have now are just ridiculous, plenty of tread and half gas anywhere from a dig up to 15mph just blows em off and starts sliding sideways

You may want to consider Nitto's 555 Drag Radial in a 245. They are fairly decent for daily driving (compared to the BFG DR), and are great for aggressive driving on the street.

its not that tire companies hate 16 inch wheels. the 16 inch wheel is becoming less popular with car makers. most are using 17 inch and up. so they are just keeping up with the auto industry. if you want better traction with 245's buy a better brand. the GS-D3 is the best tire available IMO

Yea you wont notice anything from just going to a 255. It's all about the brand. Honestly I had 245s before, then I got different wheels and now I have 275/40/17 all around. I have the bfg gforce kdw's and they hook much better.. but still spin bad going into 2nd, I don't chirp 3rd anymore though lol

The Gforce sports are your only real option for 255/50's. I'm in your same boat. Mine runs 119+ on Riken Raptors though. What I hate about going 17's is the worry about the ride difference and most weigh quite a bit more than 19lbs, which is what my 16's weigh.

Bridgestone Potenza RE960....probably the best tire you can get IMO. Check the reviews on tire rack, they are rated #1. This is my second set of these, the first ones lasted me 3 years. Traction is great for a street tire.

You really just need to get drag radials or something if you really want traction. A street tire is a street tire, it's only going to hook so good..

i have gforce kdw on the rear of my car, they have 40k on them and at least 500 passes on them. not to mention street antics. they are just now getting to the wear bars. they hook good for a street tire. they hook better in the rain than my sumitomos did in the dry.
