Default 99 and 02 MAF's are different? According to GM they are.

I wanted to get a new stock MAF so I can port one and go back and forth between the two to get my LTFT's perfect with the ported one, so I called Jason Cromer and asked for a MAF for an '02 Camaro (figured it was the easiest one to look up). He gives me the part number and price (which was damn good by the way) and I get off the phone. Well, a while back I had to buy a new stock one (long story LOL, thanks Ted ) and I happen to look at the receipt. Lo and behold, the two part numbers are different. So, I call two other Chevy dealerships to verify, and the '99, '98, '00, and '01 are one part number, and the '02 is another. Any ideas as to why this would be?
