Smile My Goal Is For A 10 Sec 1/4 Mile

I Have just recently purchased a 1995 Chevrolet Impala SS and i have a few ideas in mind as far as what i want to do with it. Its current engine has over 200,000 miles and it still runs lol but i know im not going to reach my goal with that engine. I was just looking for suggestions as far as picking out an engine, cams, heads, etc. I was thinking about a 383 stroker lt1, but i dont know whether i should have the original engine rebuilt and bored over, get a new 350 lt1 and bore it over or just get 383 a long block from gmpp. Please help and also i would like nitrous only *** a last resort.

well for the engine you could do any of wat you said. look on advanced inductions sit for the heads and cam. they also sell 383 blocks and do good work

A 10-second B-body is going to need a good deal of work, just to overcome the weight disadvantage. I'm sure Cap will chime in, but it's much easier getting the f-bod to the 10s.

Check Golen Engines, I knew of a few customers that bought the short block and used them from NA to Forced Induction with no problems...

You will most likely need some sort of power adder, whether it be nitrous or a supercharger. That's a lot of weight to overcome to get it moving. You could do it N/A but that would have to be a very nasty 383, and i'm not sure what other goals you have with the car. Do you street drive it? Cruise on the highway? Take it to work occasionally?

Like already been said one of the biggest problems you'll encounter is weight. Thats a heavy car to get into the 10s n/a and still be streetable...I agree that you may want to look at a power adder to keep the thing streetable...96capricemgr will probably chime in here and offer a suggestion or two...

Heads, cam, nitrous (a good size shot), lots of suspension, lots of weight loss, a big stall and some really sticky tires would probably get you there. 10's are a pretty lofty goal for a large heavy car like that. If you have the money and desire you could do it.

As Far as The suspension goes I was looking into a hotchkis suspension, I don't know if that would be enough but hopefully it would h
Good start.

Tell me what u think about my engine plans.

383 stroker lt1 I might have the orginial rebuilt and bored over
Lt4 intake,exhaust vavles,vavle springs
Arp 1/8 rocker studs
Don't know much about the heads or cam to go with just yet
Or a fatback exhaust to go with either
I was looking at an ati procharger possibly an fl-r

As far as the actual car I do want it to be streetable but it's not going to be a daily driver so not worried about poor gas mileage or anything. it's also been my dream car so I don't mind dumping money into it during the process

Heads and cam are definitely going to be dependent on which route you choose to go. There are a few good Heads and cam sponsors on here that could help you. I would look at LE and AI and give them a call.
