Hey,

So I'm putting together a forged 347, and I'm finally getting around to buying parts. So last November, I dropped a valve through the pistons and that was the end of that. Here are some pics from the carnage: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ake-guess.html

My question is, can I reuse these lifters (LS7 Lifters BTW) or do you think they were damaged?

New LS7 lifters are only 119.99 from TSP, so if it comes down to a safety issue of my new motor, I am more than willing to buy new ones.

if you can take each lifter apart to inspect and clean then go ahead and reuse them. i would change them for fear that some metal shavings went into them.

I might disect them for fun, but I think I will end up buying new ones..

They're not hard to get apart and clean, it's just a long slow process because of all the small parts. You're better off to just get new ones, if you value your time at all.

i would say buy them for cheap insurance.. although they are ls7 lifters and you inspect them what happens if one or a few were damaged and your motor is all together.. then youll have to disassemble stuff to get to the lifters. For 120 bucks if it were my motor i would deffinently..

True that, I think I'll buy new ones, and then take them apart as a fun project, and if they're good, see if someone wants them for cheap.

$120 is cheap compared to the time you would spend cleaning and inspecting them all. Its also way cheaper than replacing the cam and lifters later, or having to get the lifter bores honed and bushings uinstalled should the worst happen....sounds like you are already headed the right direction.
