Exclamation Trans Problem Please Help

ok so i have a 1965 el camino 327 with a 4 speed trans the trans started making a super loud sound like banging or metal sound anyway i thought it was the throw out bearing i called a shop they said it was a throw out bearing and i talked to another guy and he said it was the throw out bearing also...

so i tear everything out pull the tranny replace the throw out bearing put everything back together (4 hours later) and it still makes the sound but when you push the clutch in it stops

so whats the problem? its coming from the bell housing the only other thing i can think of is that it needs anew clutch and pressure plate

Are you hearing this sound as you are in the process of shifting gears? In other words, what triggers the sound?

I think those are questions some people will want answered.

that sound is definately the T/O bearing..
is your input shaft clean where the T/O bearing rides?
you need to pull it back apart, clean the shaft then use some emery cloth to clean it/smooth it out
