Annoying Belt squeel, replaced idler, no dice. Help

Annoying Belt squeel, replaced idler, no dice. Help 00 ls1, belt is squeeling. Replaced idler puller and it still squeels. I can get under the car with it running spray some wd40 on the belt right by the crank pulley. It gets quiet but only lasts about 3 seconds. What the hell can this be ?

Its a Gamble I went through this a few months ago. I used an engine stethoscope to try and locate the noise. I started with a new GM serpentine belt since it was the cheapest. It solved the problem for a few weeks and then the noise reappeared. The noise appeared to be coming from a particular pulley/idler and when I would replace it the noise would move. I ended up replacing the tensioner, the idlers for the engine and the AC, the AC belt, and finally replaced the serpentine belt with a Goodyear Gatorback. The squeak is finally gone. The grease was all dried up in the idlers. However, I think it was the type of belt in the end that solved the problem. I would start with the belt since its the cheapest.

+1 for new belt. not to scare you but when my lifters started going bad it sounded like a squeal and i replaced all idler and tensioner pulleys and belts to no avail. sorry for the double post-computer messed up.

ac is deleted so that belt is gone. The belt feels kinds sticky. Like i said if i spray it with WD40 it quiets for like 3 seconds. Guess i am gonna pick up a belt this week. Sound is comming from the idler area though.

You got 2 tensiors and 2 ilders. have you replaced all four there really bad on LS1's due to hardly any grease from the factory. 25k car and they don't put grease in there. I bet becuase they outsourced it to low cost bidder, who was 1 cent cheaper and saved that 1 cent by not putting enough grease.
Get a good belt and replace/regrease all 4.

Take the belt off and turn the altenator pulley to see if it squeeks. I've put about 10 belts on my car in 3 years and got fed up with it so finally tried to figure out why it squeeked all the time.
I found a write up on here, but can't find it now. It was titled "squeeky pulley? don't replace, regrease" or some **** like that. You can take the pulleys off, pop off the bearing covers and pack them with grease. I wasn't able to get my alt puller off though so I just soaked the bearing with wd40.

I just went throught this as well. New main belt drive pulley and idler pulley. Also new a/c idler pulleys. Turned out to be the a/c tensioner was losing its tension and was cocked to the side causing the belt to squeel.

Clean off your belt and all of the pullies real well, and it should stop squeaking. If the belt is worn, replace it. After all of that, if the problem still persists check out the alignment of your pullies. Also check for simple things like a tiny coolant/oil/ps fluid leak dripping onto a pulley belt somewhere.

i fixed this yesterday morning. Strated the car and grabbed the belt with a rag to get dirt off. Then used a little bit of meguiars vinyl conditioner #40 i had and it sounds great now. The belt had a sticky feel to it before, now its good.
