Default Code 83

My local tuner was looking over my datastream and noticed that I had a Code 83 TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit Fault. Tranny shifts fine except that it bounces off rev limiter between 2nd and 3rd, the reason tuner is looking over datalog. Could this be my problem? Is tranny going out or it just an electrical problem. Can I change solenoid by dropping pan? How hard is it? Thanks in advance.

Is it the original trans? From what I understand PWM didn't start till late 95. But yes you can change it by dropping the pan. No special tools required, just a pick to pull the clip retaining it. I'm sure somebody on here will have a pic up by the time I dig one up.

I had that code come up on my truck, it was the brake pedal switch.
It actually is two switches in one, one side controls the lights, one side controls TCC.

On my list of codes I have it shows 83 as QDM torque converter circuit fault (4L80E)
And also 83 Reverse inhibit system (F-Body, manual trans, 5.7L)

I see you have an A4 so don't flip on me this is straight off a master OBD 1 DTC list and those are the only things for code 83.

A 94 should not have a PWM solenoid fault unless a 95 pcm or tune is in it then it would because the PWM solenoid does not exsist.
However in either case it would not affect the 2-3 upshift

Yes that is a PWM solenoid. You should not find one on a 94 car though.
I did however have a customer who swore and maybe there were some early pop ups that he had PWM in a 94 truck so I would guess anythings possible, But as a Rule 94 units do not have PWM.

Thanks for the quick responses. I've got a 96 lt1 motor out of a wrecked car and my tuner probably figured my tranny was a 96 as well. His wife has a 96 T/A with same mods minus the stall and we just used the tune he did for her car for mine. That probably explains the code then. Now we gotta figure out the 2-3 shift. Thanks again guys.
