Yeah I stumbled upon this myself a few years ago. I had no idea it was limited in the PCM. I quickly took care of that. Never know when you may need to go that fast haha.

My T/A seemed to be limited to 140mph, has made in Canada in side the door, so perhaps the speed limit is also country dependent. The limit seems to act like a rev limiter. Have removed the speed limiter now

It has to do with the tires, has nothing to do with where the car was built...especially since they were all built at the same place, thats why the VIN #'s start with 2, 2 = Canada.
Those of us with the crappy stock tires also got steel driveshafts, the rumor that all LS1's have aluminum driveshafts is just that...a rumor.

Mine was 108 (PATHETIC stock tires).

All LS-powered cars for M-East Export are speed-limited regardless of tyres fitted.

I was waiting for someone to call me out on that. What it is is my trani controller is reporting a vastly exaggerated speed to the PCM. I was actually going around 70-80 mph but the dash speedo was pegged.
I guess I'll need to correct this with a speedo buffer box.

What can you guys make of this scenerio?
My brother (Tristan) has an 02 35th Ann. SS with 4700 miles on it. We recently installed Jet Hot LT's and a Pacesetter ORY matched to the factory installed SLP Dual Dual. Prior to the LT/ORY install the only mods to this car were a K&N Air Filter, SLP 160* Thermostat, and TB Coolant Line Bypass. Without the LT's/ORY I have been in the car while it had the 165 Speedo (there is a 5mph notch after the printed 160 on the gauge) burried. Now after the install, just today, Tristan had it up around 155pmh and said the car acted like it shut down. My question is, what the ****? Why would a speed limiter kick in now, when it surely didn't before? The car runs and drives perfectly. The only codes we had gotten were the PO140 and PO160, which are due to the removal of the rear O2 Sensors.
Hope nobody feels this is a Hijack. The thread was dormant for over 4 monthes. LOL
