I do a second gear burnout, then sidestep the clutch at 6500 in first gear.

if your still running a 10 bolt, to run it like it needs to be with the proper tire will destroy the rear 99% of the time and thats at a 5k dump.

For those with weak rears, you CAN slip it but do it too much and your frying the clutch.

Your not making tons of power, I see you on a pair of drag radials probably doing fine but your playing russian roulette.

This is my car, I think it provides a accurate vision of what your car might be if it gets a cam and a decent rear.....

yes launch in 1st gear.

the RPM is up to you. depending on what your track, tires, and rear end can handle.

i suggest reving to 3500 rpms and riding the hell outta the clutch when you leave...dont just dump it with the 10 bolt

like everybody said, slip the clutch, On street tires I was able to get 1.90 slipping the clutch from 3500. But the launch isnt the only thing to smash that POS 10bolt, power shifts will also. The best advice is take it easy on it, dont beat the hell out of it. Took me 3 times before I just bite the bullet and bought a 9". Now I can leave at whatever I like on big ol slicks As to aftermaket crap for that craptastic rear end, long answer maybe...short answer dont wast your money

You can slip the clutch and waste $$ buying new ones or instead use that money to buy a good rear end and launch the car properly. I think clutch slipping is just pointless and wasteful. When you get a good rear, as posted above, do a second gear burnout, but launch in first from 6500+ (depending on your mods).

i snatched 2nd gear in mine and broke the 10 bolt...shot me across the center line..ended up twisting the end off the drivers side axel.destroyed everything in the process

i have made a few track passes with mine, and the last one that netted me my 11 second pass I slipped it pretty quick from about 4500, and she went down the track just fine. Rear is still in it to this day, you cant hardly talk to each other at highway speeds because it howls so bad, but she is still going. LOL I launch in 1st, no reason to launch in second gear.

I can do you one better, broke the rear, locking it up..which broke the transmition and shattered the clutch then the forward momentum finished off the rear end. Had a hand full of ring teeth left and 1 pinion tooth
