3rd gear in the 1/4????
I just read where you should not put your car in OD because it will hurt your mph...and I think I might have read ET as well.
Is this true?
Should I put the car in 3 to begin with? An, yes im referring to an a4.
on motor I am traping 116 mph and on the bottle I assume i should be around 126. I have 3.23 gears so where should 3 run out at?
yeah I know I should just go find out
thanks,
pride

Is the car shifting into 4th Or Over Drive?? If not then your fine. I think if you leave it in 3rd, it wont allow it to go to 4th but you need the RPM range to accomondate, or at least increase Overall tire Diameter.
But the main question needs to be answerd. Let us know.

There's a big thread on this subject in this section, do a search. I leave mine in OD due to having a delay in 1-2 shift when the shifter was in Drive, and since then no problems.

I thought the GM tanny's, when left in OD, used excess tranny fluid pressure to keep the VB in OD? If you leave it out of OD, that is more tranny fluid pressure that is used to keep the clutches biting and the rest of the VB working good. The Mopar tranny's are just the opposite and require more pressure to keep them in 3 vs. OD. I could be wrong; it's been a few years since I was inside a GM tranny.
