News regarding Z28
This may be a repost, but there seems to be a little misinformation yet surrounding the Z28 model. Current issue of motortrend has it all figured out.

LSA, and its 200lbs lighter! Way to go GM

I doubt the Z28 is dead. I think from a marketing perspective, they are trying to avoid what happened with the 04 GTO. If you don't recall, the GTO arrived to good reviews and initially sold pretty well. Seems that sources leaked the LS2 motor going into the 05 model year, and sales... well tanked. They had more on the lot than they knew what to do with.
I believe that by telling people that Z28 is dead, a buyer that would have normally pushed off a car purchase till he saw the Z, will now go into a dealership sooner.
I hope i'm right, cause i would love to see a LSA powered Z.

I read in a magazine about 5 months ago that the year after the first Camaro comes back out, they were going to have a supercharged Z28 edition. Idk if this is true or not, but I read it somewhere, just can't remember where.

Man, if they make a new z, I will do my best to be the first in line. I have always been a gm fan, but it's always been Pontiacs that caught my attention. I bought my z, and it was all over for me lol. I really hope they make a new one.

I'm just guessing that its on a back burner...I'm sure it can't be too tough to drop it in and go...but with all the eco-tree huggers up in washington, im sure the idea of a beast like this wouldn't seem like a wise idea...
Who knows, maybe now that they pushed Wagoner out, maybe that'll push it forward or auctually kill it off...

They might have an easier time pushing a non-supercharged Z28 model into production. I can see alot of flaming hoops for the project managers to have to leap thru to justify putting an LSA/LS9 Camaro into production. Maybe they should look into doing a CF bodied Camaro with the ZR-1's brakes and some lightweight rims.......bring the weight down a couple hundred pounds and give it a stiffer suspension setup with some badass performance tires. Bump up the HP on the LS3 a little bit and voila.......you've got a killer roadcourse Z.

If you go to the GM website to price a new Camaro they have a 1SS and 2SS and 1LT and 2LT. But they don't list any Z28 options. Does this mean they won't build it or are going to release it later? Who knows...
