Default Fan won't turn off on my 3rd gen. Help?

I have an 88 Formula 305 TBI and the past couple of nights when I turn the car off, the fan stays on. Last night I thought it might go off but when I went out an hour and a half later it was still going. I unplugged the battery for the night and when I plugged it in this morning for work it didn't come back on until I started the car, but then when I got to work I had to unplug the battery again because it stayed on. Thoughts?

Could be the relay is going bad. Sometimes the gate in the relay gets stuck on-You either have to replace it, or if you have trouble finding one a temporary solution is to whack it with something to re-set the gate (seriously).

Whack the relay, you mean?

Yup, tap on the relay itself (not too hard). Alternately you could whack the fan, if you whack it hard enough it will surely stop running.

Yes, just pull the relay out that controls the fans. And tap on it with the back of a screw-driver. Put it back in and see if the problem comes back.
