Default What tranny fluid? Please help!

After building my motor my tranny went. I bought a rebuilt tranny locally until I can afford to get a full race rebuild on my old tranny. My question is what would be the best fluid to use to extend the life of this thing? The car is a 95 Z28 and the tranny is a 4l60E. I already searched the past threads and came up with nothing. Thanks to anyone who can answer me.

I dont think theres any special fluid that will extend the life of the trans.Just some good old dexron 3/mercron should be all you need.

Ok, thanks. I have heard all the stories about certain brands being worse than others. I guess this is the same as people having different opinions about oil.

I forgot to ask before but is there any advantage to using synthetic tranny fluid?

Ya. It makes your wallet lighter. LOL! Seriously though, stick with conventional tranny fluid, the synthetic stuff is not worth the extra money.

Again, thanks. Besides a small leak everything seems to be ok. Hopefully I have time to look at it today.
