Default Yank PT4000 results are in, 1.05 second improvement!

Last fall, my best time on the stock TC was:

2.0545 =60'
5.5798 =330'
8.4521 @ 86.49mph =660'
13.0194 @ 108.07mph =1320'

The only changes made were removing a broken cat from the pass side, installed a Yank PT4000, used Nitto 555R IIs in 275/40R17, UMI LCAs, tuned the shift points, and had much better air. This was at full weight minus the spare and jack, and otherwise stock suspension. Last night I ran a new best:

1.6543 =60'
4.8532 =330'
7.5845 @ 89.14mph =660'
11.9680 @ 112.61mph =1320'

Here are the time differences between the two runs:

-0.4002 =60'
-0.7266 =330'
-0.8676 =660'
-1.0514 =1320'
+2.65mph at the 1/8 and +4.54mph in the 1/4.

This is my first Yank TC and they certainly made me a believer!

Great choice on converter The PT4000 is unmatched and has been the front runner for over 10 years.

how much did you raise the shift points? that is a good 60-ft time for running nittos.

I kept the 1-2 shift stock, and dropped the 2-3 shift by 200 rpm but may need to drop it even further as my car barely tapped the limiter on the 2-3 shift on the 11.968 run.

Stall up to around 2k, then roll out of the hole smoothly and into full throttle by probably the 10 foot mark. I wanted to leave harder, but the track and Nittos wouldn't hold it. Going to get some M/T DRs and suspension mods and see if I can get it in the 1.5s. If not, the 3.23s are getting swapped for either 3.73s or 3.90s.

i'm going to say you could have installed pretty much any converter and said 'i'm a believer in brand X!' with that laundry list of mods. the nittos alone probably helped just as much as, if not more than, the converter.

not knocking yank, in fact it's a great choice, i'm just making a causal observation in this apples/oranges comparison

The Nittos would have done nothing for the stock converter, I was not spinning the GS-D3s that were on it last fall. Laundy list of mods? I fixed the broken cat converter, installed the PT4k and LCAs, and now have Nitto 555R II road racing tires not drag radials.

I had a Precision Industries Vigilante converter on my last car. With a Futral FM13 cam it wouldn't even think about spinning the 255/50R16 M/T DRs and the best 60' it could muster was a 1.73. That car also had some weight reduction and no front sway bar.

Totally different feel to that TC, nothing even similar to the Yank. The Yank just keeps pulling after each shift, and the launch is smooth but quick with my 2.2 STR. The old Vig had no top-end.

DRs would overwhelm my stock converter. Hoosiers were way too sticky and Nittos were also too sticky [ imagine that , Nittos hooking too much ]

the best i could pull was 2.0 60ft times with my stock stall. this was dead hooking on nittos. this was with full bolt ons, TR 224 cam and TSP 2.5 5.3L heads and stock 3.23 gears.

Same with my stock converter, 2.0's with a dead hook on the GS-D3 tires no matter how I tried to leave the line. I may have to swap the front for the rear tires and see what I can do on the GS-D3s!

My old Vigilante in the red car did allow me to cut a 1.83 on Pirelli P7000s once. LOL

My best times were with my stock Snowflake wheels with shitty 16 inch tires cutting a 1.99 60 foot

'mods' was probably the wrong term - how about 'improvements'? and don't get me wrong, the yank helped immensely (and i'm sure it was worth probably .7-.8 of that 1.05). of course it's a great upgrade. but you've gotta acknowledge that the mprovement in ET was due to the combination of better air, improved shift points, stickier tires, maybe more efficient exhaust, AND the TC. that's all i was pointing out.

regardless, you're running 11s, and that's f*****g sick. not to mention much faster than me (14s woot woot! the nova's down, so the stock 350z's all i got for now). congrats
