Default Engine help?

I'm looking to buy a LT1 block to build either a 355CI or 383CI. The engine will be going in my 93 Camaro. Engine will be running on 93 computer. I know there are some differences in the different year blocks. Will any year LT1 block work?

All LT1 blocks are the same, with the exception of the Vettes, which have a 4 bolt main as compared to the 2 bolt mains of the rest of the vehicles. Be sure you're getting a 5.7 LT1 block, and not one of the smaller 4.3 "baby LT1" from the full size cars, Caprices, etc.

+1. Any year will work. You will be running on a '93 computer, so there will be no need for a reluctor wheel or a '96-'97 timing cover with provision for a crank sensor.

Ok, but I been reading there are some differences in the timing cover and the newer blocks have provisions for the LT4 knock sensor. What is the deal with that?

92-94 covers have a smaller hole for the non-vented opti drive coupler. 95-97 covers have a larger hole for the opti...96/97 covers also have crank position sensors in them.

As far as knock sensors go, you are mislead. They are the same as LT1. The LT4 knock MODULE goes in the pcm in place of the stock module.

Like I said, the blocks are the same.

Not sure where this came about, but there is no such thing as an LT4 knock sensor. Module? Yes. Sensor? No.
