Default FAST 90 on a stock internal car RESULTS!!

Here's the jist of things. I had a stock internal 01 WS6 A4 w/ lid, ram air kit, no MAF, ported TB, EWP, pulley, PT4000, catback, skinnies and tune. Still on stock manifolds and cats.

Like that the car ran a best of 11.73 @ 113.20 w/ a 1.558 60'. I had a FAST 90 on my CTSV, but I'm considering getting rid of it, so I removing as much stuff as possible.

Anyway, I put the FAST 90 on my WS6 and got an Edelbrock 90mm TB and went to the track last night. The temp was roughly the same with slightly more baro pressure than the previous best. Not enough DA change ti really effect anything. I ended up getting a, 11.71 @ 113.39 w/ a 1.568. The FAST seemed to soften the launch (either that or I'm just getting used to the feeling) and my 60's were down about .01 on average. Also got a 11.72, 11.75 and a 12.28 (spun).

All in all I'm glad it didn't hurt me as I thought it might, but it didn't help anything either. Moral of the story is: Don't be afraid to put a FAST 90 on any car, but don't waste the money if you don't need to.

Did you fix your a/f after the install? May not have changed much but if it did you might see a gain from a little tuning.

It doesn't need more air. It just has more available. It's currently running OLSD. The tune wasn't far off from what it was with the LS6 intake.

I fixed what errors I had on the VE table. PE tables is set for 12.7-12.8.

I really wanted to focus on timing this time out. And the track was too crowded to get an more runs in. Plus getting the AFR perfect would likely only be a few horsepower on my setup and much easier done on a dyno than at the track to see max gains. I may move it up to around 13.0:1 next time I go out.

Yeah I still need to mess with my timing too but it seems to work well where it's at. BTW I bumped my a/f up to 13.0 also and it runs much stronger

I tune VE and MAF tables at a locked low timing advance. And mine seemed a lot stronger at 20 than at 27 while I was riding around doing part throttle tuning and whatnot.

The timing marks on my plugs seems a little low on the strap but right about where it should be at 27 degrees. And at 20 it was barely on the end. So I really wanted to see how low I could go before my car started to fall off.

I see. I've just been running the stock timing tables while tuning airflow then setting the wot at 26 when I'm done. I guess running it linear at like 20 or so would be better while tuning the MAF and VE at wot?

I set the whole table 20 for my car. I can get my AFR error % closer in less time like that.

Good to know. Out of curiosity, did you se any noticeable diff. in track times when you switched to SD?
