LS3 has 150cc more capacity, a slightly stiffer, stronger/more durable block (based on GM press), and better L92 style, higher flow heads with larger valves, and matching intake. Also has a slightly better stock cam, and generally makes more power all things being equal.

Do I now hear a debate coming.....

Basically it has a .060" larger bore, and better heads. The other details are that, just minor details.

i dont think i will have a need for the ls3 block then for( .06 ) i'm not going to be pushing it hard enough . i was going more for just the block vs the ls2 block. i'm going to use aftermarket heads crank everything.

LS3 breathes better... but seems to have oiling issues on a road course.

There's a thread over @ www.sccaforums.com in the T1-T2 section.

Which is mainly from the heads, not the .060" larger bore.

Oiling issues? Do you mean burning oil, or oil starvation?

If its starvation you are referring to, thats why the Z06 has a dry sump.

Oil starvation in high speed left turn sweepers... seems to be a major issue with the LS3. SCCA is likely to allow adding a dry slump system for the LS3 engines.

Everyone's questioning potential horsepower gains when using the dry slump system.

As many have mentioned the LS3 heads evolved from Chapman's LS7 head design.... ergo, they breathe better.
