Tried a manual controller, it wasn't consistent at holding boost the same level all the time. Just using the wastegate spring currently.

It may not run right on with the spring pressure. So you could get 7lbs out of a 5lb spring. Just buy a manual controller, there cheap.

I run the hallman pro manual. Its like 100 bucks, and works great. Pretty much the best manual on the market. As sluggish said, running of just the gate is ok, but you may not get the boost the spring is supposed to make. Wastegate placement can play a big factor here.

id suggest running atleast a MBC.

I have a 88.00 Turbonetics manual controler, it gets the job done and is a good quality peice.

I also have a good friend that just went to an AMS 1000 and he loves it, says it introduces the the boost so smoothly the tires never spin (8 sec drag radial street car)

AMS 1000 is the only way to go if money is not the subject. I tried a few others but the AMS 1000 plus co2 = dead nuts boost control.
