Could the 98's swap out the portion of the gas fill for the same portion on the 99+ so one could use the locking caps?

I was wondering the same thing. I really want a locking cap for my 98 but it is not available from any supplier. Has anyone done a successful 99+ locking cap merge with the 98 lower section?

98 lockng gas cap problem was solved. Buy acdelco part number# 2266-0006 And grind down the tabs a little and it should fit perfect.

I noticed the original 98 cap does not have the vent in the center like the 99+ does. Does anyone know why the difference? Will using a vented cap cause problems on the 98 car? Thanks, Brian.

I wouldnt worry about the air vents just buy the part number above and grind down the triangle parts on each side and it should fit perfect.
