Default How will this stall converter work out for me???

how would a vigilante 3200 stall converter work out for me with a 355 LT1 with a cc306 cam, port and polished heads, Hooker LT's and some other mods a such as 58mm BBK Throttle body, EWP, CAI, 32 LBS injector's, a rebuilt 4L60E trans oh and 3:73 gears. Will this be a sufficient enough stall. I'm using the car on the street so opinion's and input's would be great, thanks steve

a 3200 will work but something around a 3500-/+ will be more optimal

Yep.

How much traffic do you drive in? The 3.73's should help out some though.

When you have a cam with duration like the cc306 has you will see that cam actually starts pulling at 2500 RPM so you should have atleast 1000RPM higher stall speed making the 3600 a very good starting point.
stock & bolt on Ltx cars really like 2800-3600 stalls.

I've never had a stall and never have ridden in a car with a stall, so is this thing going to break my neck or what? I don't want something tha's going to tear my trans up either? I have no clue what to even expect out of one these. In my mind the car wouldn't even go until 3600 rpm and that's reved up pretty damn high to just start moving! So does any one have one that there not using any more? I need to get one but I can't afford a brand new $975 stall.

a performance can burn up an old tired trans fairly quickly so I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a little financial safety net

also make sure to pair any convertor swap with a trans cooler, my personal preference is the B&M super coolers

No it is not going to break your neck.. The car will roll and move just like before the install. There will be a little lag on the motor until it gets past the converter. It will not sit still until you hit 3600 rpms...LOL... You will be fine, it can burn through a stock tranny..so you might want to start saving up to have it rebuilt...IMO

How many miles on your rebuilt tranny?

I'd also recommending saving up for a FLT Stage 3 or 4 tranny. They are pricey but they are worth it.

3600 is good for you

if you ever plan on spraying the car you might want to stick to the 3200. if not spraying go with the 3600. either way your best bet is to talk to whoever sells you the converter and ask them. some good brands are precision industries, yank, and I've been reading some positive feedback on edge converters as well. not too say there aren't other good companies out there those are just some of the more popular.

I have maybe 8,000 miles on my rebuilt 4L60E, I'm sure there not the top of the line parts but it is freshly rebuilt, I plan to run about 150 shot on it when I can afford tha one day, hopefully this summer....Like I said it's for street racing use, I've had the car since I was 16, so about 9 years now and I've never had it on a drag strip... Damn I didn't realize I've owened it for that long, lol!

I would add a trans cooler! Most of the guys who are running nice sized stalls with stock trannys use a tranny cooler.

It really will help you trans last longer!

Also id go with a 3,600 stall with the cam that you have

So if I plan to spray it don't go that big, stick with a 3200???? How much of a diffrence are we talking between these 2. I don't know what to go with at this point! I'm lloking for a good deal on one that's all. Trying to lock in a deal for this vig 3200 shipped for $375 so that's why I'm asking. I don't want to waste money if it's not going to be benificial to me in the long run! Thanks guys

I had a vig 3200 stall that I was spraying through and it was perfect. With your cam though, it wouldn't hurt to go to a 3600. And definitely get a B&M tranny cooler! I had a trans temp guauge I also installed, and it came in handy many times during the summer, especially at the track.

If its a used converter I'd highly suggest sending it back to Vig for $225 to have it checked and freshened...That price also includes changing the stall speed which I would make 3600...Unless you know the history of the converter you'd be foolish not to have it freshened by Vig...If you're still unsure about the stall speed talk to them and they'll help you pick the right stall...I can tell you that I run N/A and had run a Vig 3600 for years with my combo and it ran the times/mph in my sig...Have since upped stall to 4000 and it still drives much like a stocker until you nail it...The Vigilante line of converters is very efficient...
