Smile 408 Finished, Starting it tonight!!!!!!

I am not sure if I am posting in the right place, the engine is a mix of gen 3 and gen 4. After 5 years of piecing it together, I am proud to anounce I have finaly finished it and am now ready to turn the key and see if she comes alive! If only my wife would quit chatting long enough for me to escape and get back outside!!!!!!

I will post the results soon.

So far not to good. I do believe the injector setting must be way off. It is flooding out really bad. The oil level on the dip stick cam up and it smells like gasoline! I will drop the oil out of it tomorrow. I think it foiled a plug or two. I will have to change them as well. I am not pleased with the oil pressure, but the oil change to get rid of the fuel in it might help that. Man I miss the ease of a carb!!!!!!

I hope you figure it out bro. As long as you have been working on it and only to have issues now is a little disenheartening. Stick with it, you'll get her going.

Ok, we know what went wrong. It is in the injector sizing in the pcm. We put in the pcm the injector size in g/sec instead of lb/hr. This told the pcm we had a very tiny injnector instead of a larger injector. So the pcm was dumbing fuel in like no tommorrow. I am going to dumb the oil, change the filter, pull the plugs, run compression, and replace plugs with new ones,,, just to be safe. I am possitive it did not damage the engine in any way. I will post up the findings later.

If you just started it for a few minutes and shut it off it should be fine. Good luck with it, sounds like fun build.

Ok, just came in, here is the statis,,,, All is great. No problem with the rings. There is no blowby on the crank case what so ever, compression is good, I dropped the oil and changed the filter two times. The oil pressure at 700 rpm is 40ish and at 3000 rpm it is 55+. I finished everything under the hood except the AC, I will have to vacuum it tomorrow. Both my left and right bank Wide bands are working and so are my left and right bank EGT's. I went for a 30 mile ride and did some tunning for the street and all is looking good so far. I am very pleased with the choppy idle, and the way it is responding right now. I still need to finish tuning the street manors and let it brake in some before I start tunning the WOT. Lookiing great so far!
