i have a cam and stall my tranny is holding up fine with 130,000+ miles. but i know of some that dont its just a hit or miss. mine has a transgo shift kit and a good tune i think that is the secret. And dont go cheap on the stall. and i would suggest a tranny temp gauge so you can keep an eye on the temp.

Adding more power to your car is always a risk for breaking the next weak link. But if you add a good tune, a big cooler, and a high quality - read Circle D - converter, you will help prolong the life of the transmission. The safest way is not to mod, but where is the fun in that??

My tranny went south within 1000 miles of putting my cam in....it was fine before that with the SS4000 converter. I don't know how much truth is in it, but some claim that once you go above 6000 RPM's with the stock tranny, they fall apart fast. Some can disprove that, others like myself see a possible connection there. I'd suggest upgrading the tranny....otherwise you might be spending money to clean a potentially new, low-mileage converter that was trashed when the tranny gave up. Like I said, some have had success....it's a gamble.
