so im pretty sure i have a leak internally in my power steering cooler, into my coolant. its the same color oil in the top of my radiator. i was thinking it was oil left in the coolant resivoir from the PO blowing the original engine, but no, i cleaned most of that out. so when i replace this im going to flush my coolant and the P/S system, which kinda sucks.
has this happened to anyone else?
and is this a dealer only part? and how much they gonna jack me for it?
its WS6 and SS option---------RPO V12 part #---10417037

I've heard of this happening before, though never on one of my cars. The V12 PS cooler was standard on SS/WS6 from '98+, and also standard on all V8 F-bodies by 2002.
I would imagine it's a dealer part.

You might as well delete that part and go with a hose from a non ps cooler car. I paid 50.00 for the hose a few months back. Holla.

Yep it happens. I'm gonna go with dealer only item also unless you can fabricate something up yourself.

well, i really dont care if i have it or not. i was reading about how gm was burning up pumps so they put this on there, but if that was the case all the T/A's and z/28s would be burning up pumps so i dont think i need it.
tomorrow ill hit the stealership and see what they have, im pretty sure the price will have me make up my mind.

well, i went to the dealership and got one. they want 200 bucks for one, luckily (kinda) i knew someone there and they gave it to me for a tick under 150. thinking i shoulda just bought the hose for 30 bucks but what the hell right?

$20 on ebay.
BTW, those coolers are useless and only make the power steering fluid HOTTER. You should get rid of it and either install an aftermarket cooler that actually cools the fluid or just connect the lines and don't use a cooler and put on a straight rubber upper hose.....they are 100% NOT needed. Costs $40 to install an aftermarket cooler and 1 hour of your time.

you put a lot of good stuff into perspective LS6, i went back and ordered just a regualar upper hose for it. yeah if i do need one i have a spare tranny cooler in my garage i could rig up for a P/S cooler. thanks man, you saved me some money!!!
