Default MS3 stock converter..... lol

Well I put a ms3, lng tbs, ory, cut out, weiand intake, bbk 80mm tb, and lid in my 99 z28. Car is stock weight w/ 3.23's and a4 w/ a STOCK CONVERTER! Going to hit the track this week and am not sure how it's going to do. Looking for some opinions...... If it means anything, the car maxed the stock 26lb injectors, my tuner was showing them trying to pull 140%!!! (I did swap them out for something bigger...)

My guesses are 12.8ish@114ish mph w/ 1.9 60ft....... What do you think?

It should be interesting to see what happens... I would say 12.5 @ 112-4 with 1.9-2.0 60' a converter would probly drop a second off that time though lol.. Why not just put a converter in it?

That cam with a stock converter must drive like absolute ****.. why would you do that?

It's kind of like ptuting a dominator on a crate 350 motor.. can you do it yes, but is it going to work right? Probably not.

That cam is gonna need at a minimum with your gearing a 4600 converter to do anything.

At least get a set of 3.73 or 4.10 gears in the car, something to get car moving a little easier.

How's that car idle too LOL, with the load the stock converter puts on the motor at idle it's got to be surging like a ****.

Actually it runs fine, 850 rpm, only surges a tad on decel at really low rpms, other than that its very unnoticeable. I did it because a converter in the 4l60 will be racing on borrowed time and I don't have the cash for the th400 yet.

Makes sense if you're planning on a tranny swap not ot spend the $ on a converter that I will agree with.

I would have just done it all at once, unless you wanted a before and after dyno # or something along those lines.

Ya, I thought it'd be interesting to do it in stages and watch the clocks drop as parts were added..... The more i think about it, I'm pretty sure it'll prob run a hi 12, its going to take quite awhile for it to get up in that powerband......

However just added pro stars w/ nittos to the list, and the sway bar will be unhooked, so I dont think traction should be a problem

traction may still be an issue with the nittos. when you get the trans and converter you may have to switch to a different tire as i dont think the nittos will work with the increased torque. what size are they?

We just did the same thing with a friends car. He put in my old 231/239 cam. Stock converter, with 4.11's. Car went 11.8 @ 118 or so. I didn't have to do too much tuning on it either. Perfect street racing car. It would bog just enough waiting on the car to get into the power band that it could hook anywhere.

This was all for the same reason. Car now has a th350

Well, the results are in! LOL, yup terd is right! 2.1, 60ft didn't spin the tires off the line but did spin a titch in the upper R's in first. Both shifts the car kinda fell outta the power band as well. 13.1@112! So the MPH is pretty decent and should go up w/ a stall and better trans, from my logs the trans was taking a 3-5 tenths per shift. Not bad imo for a full weight car w/ the stock converter and gear!
