Default Port and Polish?

How much will a port and polish cost on some 98 heads? I have a set just sitting here...I've heard 350-500...sound about right? Then how much to install them?

Try doing some bowl blending and back cut the valves if your getting work done. I paid 350ish for my blending and valve work

back cutting the valves is indeed 1 of the biggest upgrades to head work. if ur spending 500 bucks, just buy ls6 heads ull gain about the same hp and u can always upgrade the ls6 heads and make more power. the combustion chambers of the ls6 head r just way better.

well when i bought my car it came with three sets of brand new heads. My buddy says he'll do a p and p on one set if I give him an extra set for himself. Thought i should since LS1 heads aren't going for a whole lot.

98 are dog $hi* heads...get a set of 243's for around 500 and you'll be ahead of the p&p'd dog $hi* 853's

Ya go with some 243 heads and leave the crap heads alone. The 243's or 799 heads can be had for less than $500 complete. Expect to pick up around 20-25rwhp with stock 243 or 799 heads .

yes i understand they are crap heads but since i have 3 SETS and nobody wants these, i figure i'd just do this. Any ideas on what to do when he is in there porting, valves and blending, anything else?

Also, will 243's even fit on my motor since the bolt patterns are different?

243's have the same bolt pattern and are a much better design.I am playing with an 853 head right now.If you plan on porting yourself expect to pay a couple hundred in porting tools.By the time you are done its not worth it.like they said pickup a set of 243's and either bolt them right on or have them dont by someone.hope this helps.

im sure u can sell all 3 sets for about 500. and if ur going to do anything to the heads it would be to back cut the valves. if ur friend is going to p&p them i wouldnt even put them on my car. unless he is a straight badass pro or has a flow bench they will more than likely suck. back cut the valves and mill them cheap gain 25hp if u mill them enough

A buddy does head porting. He said if it wasnt me he would probably charge $300-400+. He would have to look at them first.
