Default whats more quiet?

3" y pipe into a 4" muffler dumped (muffler is 6" round 30" case)
OR
3" into x pipe into dual 3" mufflers dumped (mufflers 6" round 22" case)
trying to figure out which one is going to be sane inside the car.
not looking for any resonance.
i know its going to be loud, but looking for the best option.

talked to both dynomax and magnaflow and they didnt know.
both muffs are round canister style mufflers.
dont know if 2 cases are going to make more noise, or the one muffler is going to make it drone worse.

X pipe will flow better and not have much resonance.

thats my thinking, but you do have noise exiting 6" instead of 4" if you go with the one muffler.

what do u mean by noise exactly??? if you go with either setup it will be louder than a Y pipe with a catback no matter what you do.

catback is out the window.
setup in question is 2 3" mufflers or one 4" muffler.
the 4" muffler is longer, but the 3" setup will have more area exiting.

if your also looking for performance i would go with the two mufflers exiting out the X pipe.

two 3" hooker maxflows IMO. they are extremely quiet and flow well. Either them or a Borla XS they are quiet from what i hear too.

its been proven a 3" y pipe and a 4" muffler are equal to true duals in power.
im looking at the better setup for interior resonance.

no room for oval mufflers. sticking with the round setups.
thanks.

from what ive found, the borla xr1 multicore muffler can tame 800hp, but the muffler itself is 400 bucks! its a lil big at 8" around anyway.

You know I've been wondering the same myself. Only advantage I see of the single 4" is it would be easier to run one 4" and dump it behind the axle and get more of the noise behind you. You can get dual 3" over the axle but from the pictures I've seen it would take a good exhaust shop.
