Can you set the valves(rocker arms) on an ls1 the old Fashioned Way
Can you set them the way when you loosen them until they clack then tighten them until they stop.. them tighten them a half turn more?????????

no need to go through all of that. just torque them to 22ft. lbs then turn the engine over by hand and stop and retorque every 90 degrees (you'll ned a 24 mm socket to turn the crank) remove the spark plugs to make it alot easier

That procedure was for stud mounted rockers, where pushrod set preload and wipe pattern and the rocker position was fixed by the valve stem/spring and pushrod. On the LS1, the rockers are fixed fulcrum so the height of the stand relative to the valve stem sets the geometry and the pushrod sets lifter preload. To ensure the rocker is installed correctly, the bolt preload is used, which is set with a torque value. Here is the correct way to install the rockers.
