sorry for the dumb questoin but i wanted to get you guys opinion. I am in the process of picking up a 95 tranam witha built motor and the quesotin i have is will be ok to travel long distance ( 450miles ) .I dont see a problem with it but the guy i am buying it from is a little scared that something might go wrong lol ( his builder told him not to drive that far lol) basic ally its a built lt .60 over with 383 stroker kit with 292 comp cam , ported heads and so on, all the supporting mods. the builder is saying that since its .60 over that the drive is a little to long but i was think differetn, what do u you guys think? Should i worry about the drive or not

Before even picking it up, I'd be a little concerned about the builder not being confident about his motor.

agreed.

too long? what does that mean? is it going to bomb if you drive it for a certain distance?

Why would a 450 mile trip be bad for the engine.
Just cruising freeway, rpm and temps should be low...something sounds fishy.

yes indeed. if you can wreck on it at the track/strip why would a low rpm easy 400mile drive be too long? i would stay away from that car.

better question, why are you driving an 8mpg car 450 miles? LOL

not to mention its no caddy in terms of comfort

If you insist on purchasing it regardless of it's suspected condition, I'd look into arrangements to have it towed.

Wouldn't go near it witha 10 ft pole. if the builder is saying that then something must be wrong.

I'm sure there are very successful stories and that's all fine and good, but **** still happens and it can be devastating. My advice to you is buy a f-body that suits your needs, whether it be a rolling chassis or something that may have a few bolt on's and still looks decent inside and out and then build the motor.

It might sound like a good deal but why spend money on something that's not mechanically sound. I'd say skip that and find a f-body locally that you can inspect throughly and make a informed decision. Besides it would be a hell of a lot better to start your own build up rather then taken on someone elses project !
