Default tps question

ok i got a throttle body today. a ported tb 52mm unit and i went to put it on and my idle was at 1500 rpms. and then i tried my stock one back on and went back to normal. so i wanted to know if there was a slight change in the tps unit. i wanna find out what yr my throttle body came off from? i have a 96 camaro ss so is there a difference between 94-95? and also 96-97

Did you see if the throttle blades are open more on the newer TB? From someone messing with the "idle" screw.

the blades are bigger but the tps housing seemed that the hole there inside was backwards

Well yea, the blades WILL be bigger going from 48mm to 52mm lol Wasn't quite what I was referring to. Talking about the gap when they are closed, between the blades and the bore. No idea what you're referring to about a backwards hole though...

slot the holes on the tps, and set the tps to spec. I can't remember exactly what they should set at idle, try.45

.54v - .66v
I'd start with .62v and go from there.

Sweet, I typed up a small tutorial on doing the TPS mod, but when I was looking for pictures I came across this! Works out SO much better haha

That link should get stickied.

Looks like I set my TPS .18v too high >_> Should be .50v for my year and .67v for yours.

omg you may have just saved my life lol thank you for the info seems like all the tps sensors are the same except for the 93 model so all i need to do is adjust the set screw for my specs. thanks again

Well I think technically even the 93s are the same actual SENSOR, but they are adjusted a bit differently on the TB so they put out a different voltage. I believe that the TPS is just a potentiometer that is cranked up and held there by a spring, which is what makes it have so little output voltage at idle. When you crack the throttle open, it actually winds the potentiometer down, decreasing the resistance and the voltage goes up. Just an assumption though.

Hopefully that link was able to fix your problem.

On a side note, I haven't noticed any difference between .52v and .68v :\ That's just on the butt-dyno though.
