4" stroke and .030" overbore should be a 383ci.

a 408 is a 6.0 block with a 30 over and a 4 inch stroke. You cant go that much over on a stock ls1 without sleeves in the block.

the formula to figure it out is the total displacement of the engine, so you take the area of a circle(pi x radius^2) times the stroke of the engine times number of cylinder.

Actually, the formula for diplacement is pi/4*bore squared*stroke*# of cylinders. Example: .7854*15.194*3.622*8=345.781 for our beloved LS1. Hope this helps!

Default Ok so who has a 383 out of a 5.3?

I pulled a 5.3 out of a customers truck and I'm going to build a 383 I just want to know who has used a 5.3 block and if your hitting it with nitrous, how big of a shot are you using?

I punched your numbers into the cid calculator B x S x Cylinders x Pi = CID

Unless I messed it up then an ls1 30 over (3.898 + .030 = 3.928) with a 4 inch stroke is 388

WitH the other modifications you speak of, you should be in the 400's range on a stock bottom end.
