Default belt squeal...but what is causing it???

recently my belt started squealing when it was wet outside or on cold starts. so i replaced it. as soon as did all was fine. then a day or two later it starts again. so today i bought some belt dressing to see if it was still the belt or if the tensioner pulley was going out. sprayed some on the belt and it went away. well i get driving it down the road and its still squealing!
what is making it do this????

Check all the pulley ribs. There may be remanants of old belts in them. Also could be a bad pulley bearing somewhere.

And don't use belt dressing. It sucks.

Have you checked both belts? I had the same problem and ended up having to replace both the main and ac belt to get rid of my problem. I got gatorbacks and never had a problem since.

if it shuts up for a little while when something is applied to the belt, then how could it be a pulley?

and i have an lt1 so only one belt.

Because the old belt could have melted a but of itself on the pulley ribs.

Did you look for abnormal belt wear on the pulleys when you took the belt off? You can tell if any one of your pulleys are wobbling by the wear pattern on them. If that rules out then I would start looking at the water pump.
