Default Just bought a FI car, new to the scene and have some ?'s

It's a 10th Anniversary Firehawk w/ a D1sc, 62lb injectors, new fuel pump, Full exhaust and some sort of tune. I wish I had more info to provide, but the last owner didn't have the car for very long and he wasn't as inquisitive as I am when buying a car. As far as I know, the internals haven't been touched at all. When the car was tuned (11/18/08) it made 569rwhp/tq @ 5.3lbs of boost but now I'm only occasionally seeing the boost get up to 2-3lbs Is there a way to tell if it might be belt slippage or something else? My other problem is the way it starts up. I'm not sure if this is normal, but when I crank the engine it's like there's a lot of fuel being dumped in and it takes the car a good 30 seconds or so before it burns off and you can hear the SC whine.

Also, if there's ANYTHING anyone could fill me in on regarding maintenance or things that I should be checking please don't be shy, throw it out there

Does the car start right up? or do you have to crank it for 30 sec before it starts...........the supercharger gets louder as it warms up

It will sometimes take a couple of cranks, but I do not have to crank on it for a full 30 seconds. That's just how long it's taking for the car to smooth out and when I hear the charger start to wistle.

The supercharger needs to warm up some before it starts to wine. With a good tune, car should start up immediately. Contact Steve from http://www.tunedbyfrost.com He might be able to help. Do you have 8-rib supercharger belt? You might need to tighten it some.

I would also check all the clamps to make sure there isn't a leak somewhere.

Good suggestions so far. No clue on what pulley is on the car right now.

Congrats on the purchase! Definitely check the clamps. The belt could definitely be loose. If it's belt slip you'll either hear it slipping, or see the boost drop off. Since you aren't seeing very much to begin with my guess is that the belt is too loose.

If you do not know when it was done last, go ahead and change the oil in the supercharger. A friend of mine waited till 25,000 miles to do his for the first time, I ended up doing it for him. The unit still works very well, and is now just a bit over 30,000 miles.

I am glad you said something, I had no clue I had to change the oil on the unit itself. What kind and how much oil does it typically hold?

Sorry, when I was typing that I was trying to remember how much/kind, contact Procharger, they have thier own blend. I thought the recomended change interval was 6,000 miles

You are supposed to use ATI branced oil to keep the warranty, if it still has one.

The D1SC takes 6 ounces, you can buy them in a set of 3 from Bob @ EPP.
