Default L92 Heads and Piston Valve Reliefs

I was looking at my setup, and the valves are bigger than the valve reliefs in the pistons, and checked 2 different pistons. I checked a set of JE -29cc pistons and a set of Wiseco -8cc pistons and in both of them, the valve relief wasn't big enough to accommodate the big *** valve of the L92s. What is done to fix this, or am I just plain ignorant on this subject?

The Wisecos do fit if they are the newer ones. We use them all the time.

You have to get pistons with l92 specific valve reliefs, or modify your own.

I had my Diamond pistons flycut for the L92's to reuse in the new build. Diamond has the L92 style pistons niow.

I think you've got some of the k394 series pistons. If they were made in late 2007 and later, they are Wiseco multifit valvepockets that accomodate the L92's and others. If the valve pocket looks perfectly round instead of slightly oval, you have some of our earlier parts. -Brian Nutter

i haven't found aftermarket pistons that can be used with the 6.098" stock rods - they're all for 6.125". correct me if i'm wrong here, please.

I am away from my catalogues but I think you have a few to choose from. Most do use the aftermarket rod though you are right but I have used a few that don't and stay with the stock rod and pin.

wiseco's will work with the stock 6.098" rods - they use the stock-size .927" pin. i guess it's helpful to use the telephone every once in a while...

EDIT: I'm sure others will as well (i'd verify first, of course), I only called wiseco.

You can use an aftermarket 6.098 rod with the .927 pin, but be prepared to deck the block some. Some blocks come short from the factory spec of 9.240, so it's pretty common for some of our customers to have to run the 6.098/6.100 stuff to make things work out.

Got ya - you'd need a deck height of 9.213" using the stock 6.098" rods to get to zero deck.

The new Wiseco should be no problem, we stock those all the time.
