Default What heads fit LS1s without raising compression?

Im thinking about some better heads to fit my LS1. What other GM heads fit a stock cubed LS1 without raising compression? Which would be the best bang for the buck heads? I have a great head ported that will cut me an awesome deal porting whatever I decide.

The stock heads are the only ones that won't affect compression. LS6 and 5.3 heads raise compression and LQ9/LQ4 heads will lower it. Why do you not want to raise the CR?

93 octane is a PITA to find around here. 91 is much much easier to find. In the city I live, I think there is one station that has 93, but since South Dakota is rural I leave the city very often.

If I can raise the compression with the LS6 or 5.3 heads and still be able to run 91 I would have no issue going that route if the cost per hp is worth it IMO.

Does anyone have dyno results from stock heads to ported heads? Im strongly leaning towards this since I can get them done for CHEAP.

You can raise the CR and still run 91 octane. There are lots of results from all types of heads in the dyno results section, so you may want to check that out. A set of stock LS6 heads will gain about 15-20HP and CNC ported 5.3 or LS6 will gain roughly 30-40HP. What cam do you plan on running?

My cam, Hot Cam. I love the drivability, I wont go away from this unless someone offers me a cam that will keep the drivabilty. If anyone has a cam suggestion that wont affect my drivability hardly at all IM all ears.

I have looked in that section and cant find what Im looking for right now.

The hotcam is definitely working in your favor. The cam lowers DCR and allows you to run more static compression. You can easily run a 5.3 or LS6 head with an 0.040 thick head gasket on 91 octane(with proper tuning of course). I would not be concerned with bumping the compression, in fact I would recommend it.

^^^^^ I agree with 5.3LJimmy,

You need about 10.8 static.
91 MON+RON /2 won't give any issues.
I'm running 10.8:1 with a smaller cam than the 217/227 and using 95 RON UL with no probs as long as I keep wot timing below about 25 degrees.
