Default Hub-centric rings??

Well, by doing some searching i've read that if you want to run oem c-6 rims you need to run a 1"-1.25" ring. I've never dealt with these rings, so I was wondering if that was a bit much?? Is there a down side to having to use these rings, safety issues??

Im putting mine on tomorrow, i have vibration at 60mph and up i cannot balance out, hub is 70.3 and rims are 72.62.
Hoping it will take care of it.
Hub centric rings only center the rim on the hub so it is perfectly even, compared to lug centric where you rely on the bolts to center the rim on the hub.

I have used them on 2 sets of wheels for about 6 yrs now and have not had a problem with safety. When I first got my wheels, they did not realize I needed them...that was a bit dangerous. I had a couple bolts break off because the weight was sitting on those. If the wheels you are getting needs them, then definitely use them.

I just used them they are aluminum alloy rings with a taper,I coated them with a thin
layer of high temp silicon grease so they don't fuse to the the hub. Took the car out on the highway and didn't notice any vibration. I put a dial gauge on the floor and put it next to the lip, I didn't see any visible run out issues

Thanks for the info guys!! So how thick were the rings you guys used?? It seems like 1.25" seems to be alot to have to use, but like I said I've never dealt with this issue so it might be a common size.

EDIT: after doing some more searching I believe I need "spacers" I thought the rings were a type of spacer, but it seems the rings are for adapting diffrent hub sizes to a larger hub size on the rim. Is that correct??

That would be hub adapters, what you want is hub spacers like these, which are hub-centric:

Actually, I was running them with factory 16 x 8s.

So 1" spacers will give your wheels a +53.6mm offset.
And 1.25" spacers will give your wheels a +47.25mm offset.

Both will work.

IMO, get hub-centric spacers.
