Default Belt slip on 8 rib D1-SC

I'm getting pretty bad slip on my D1-SC. The car hits a wall at 15.5 psi (per kPa value), every time I pull the blower it is covered in rubber dust. This is a 7.65" crank pulley, 3.4" blower pulley, 39.2" 8 rib gatorback and the ATI tensioner almost all of the way down (perhaps an inch of thread to begin, then as it slips it ends up being tightened all the way). Any remedies for this? Anything I can do with the current setup or do any sponsors sell a spring loaded tensioner?

Smart design, what size belt it that? Looks like I'll need a 44"+ belt? Any sponsors sell this?

I dont know off the top of my head how long the belt is. They sent me a napa belt with my kit and I have replaced it no problem at my auto parts store with a gates belt. SDCE is no longer a sponsor here... google.

Just my luck, their online shop is down. It looks to be anywhere between $500-$600 from searches here, is that about right? Doesn't sound bad if it solves the problem.

Can't remember what I am using LOL! Yeah there are a bunch of options at this time and the spring tensioner is the only way to really solve the problem if it is a street car.

I may try a gates belt and get it pretty tight the first time and see if it holds.

It's the stock filter from the kit. Think freeing up the flow will take some strain off the belt? I noticed you guys were still using the ATI setup on that white T/A that made 700+ too.

The SDCE has been flawless for me to date. I would recommend it.

Don't get too crazy with tighting the belt as I have seen someone bend a couple of cranks. GL!

Maybe try a bigger idler pulley. I'd also highly reccomend a bigger filter as Bob said. I gained about 1.5psi from just that $50 filter alone back when I was running a P1SC on a 347.

I may have to try out the filter.

Really? That is surprising, you'd think the blower or the bracket would give first. Hopefully my Lunati crank is prone to bending!

It actually snapped the 8 rib pulley of the damper last week from being tight.

The ProCharger air filter is good for about 12 psi of boost, past that it becomes a big restriction. Try a run without the filter, you'll probably be shocked. We've installed larger filters and picked up two psi of boost and eliminated belt slippage. The stock filter becomes such a restriction that it puts a big load on the blower, which causes the belt slippage. Here is the filter we use. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...html?item=1086 Bob

Sounds like a good idea to try the $50 filter > $600 tensioner route first 'Trust'. If that doesn't work, then spend the dough and get that tensioner...good luck man, can't wait to see it rip off some single digit passes this season.

Indeed. Either way, the filter will help you out anyways even if ya do eventually get the SDCE setup..

Not a bad idea then. I'll probably pull the accordion part off the hat and get into boost and see what it makes PSI wise. If that helps I'll be ordering the filter ASAP.
